Hey look, it’s a new NOT Stieg Larsson book!
The Amazon pre-order page states, “In this adrenaline-charged thriller, genius-hacker Lisbeth Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist face a dangerous new threat and must again join forces.”
I can just hear the deep-throated movie trailer announcer guy… “In a world… where we milk every last ounce from our literary characters… comes another sequel from the estate of….”
All joking aside, it looks as if Lagercrantz is stepping in where Larsson left off and will, most likely, be penning more Lisbeth Salander novels (Larsson, it’s said, originally planned to write 7 books in the series).
The book, titled The Girl in the Spider’s Web (keeping up “The Girl” theme), was originally titled “That Which Does Kill,” according to a January 2015 article in The Guardian. The original Swedish title is Det som inte dödar oss (“What doesn’t kill us”). It will be released August 27, 2015 in the UK, and September 1, 2015 in the U.S.
According to EW.com (and The Guardian) “Stieg Larsson’s estate… specifically chose Lagercrantz to continue the internationally best-selling novels.” Fans should note, however, that none of Lagercrantz’s material is sourced from the mysterious, and as yet seen, fourth novel that Larsson was writing at the time of his death.
David Lagercrantz is the author of Zlatan Ibrahimović’s biography I am Zlatan Ibrahimović.
